Clio--The Digital Bookshelf:
Suppose
you—or one of your library patrons--need to determine if Great Aunt
Margaret was the Margaret Harris from Franklin County, Ohio. You
could locate the county histories on Franklin County and the state
histories of Ohio and page through these books, hoping that someone
has indexed names and that the index is complete.
Or you
could use Clio. Clio, our new digital bookshelf, allows you to
search 500 state and county history books that have been loaded onto
an external hard drive. You choose the books from the Clio catalog
in groups of 50. We load these books onto a hard drive and ship Clio
to you. When you receive Clio, plug in the power and USB cable and
start searching. | Clio's Welcome Screen |

If you have a local area network, you can
set up Clio on your network and up to five people have simultaneous
access to the system. |
You own the books. You own the drive.
No subscription fees. No need for Web access. You set up locally.

Clio searches and displays pages quickly. You can page
through a Clio digital book almost as quickly as you can page
through a paper book. And you can open several books at a time, for
quick cross referencing.
And unlike many other digital
books, you’ll view high quality TIFF images on your screen—a true
representation of the original, not a digital interpretation. More
importantly, you’ll be able to print high quality TIFF images—not
low resolution Web images that are difficult to read. |
